What are the requirements to be admitted to KCS?

Our School's NON-DISCRIMINATORY POLICY:  Kansai Christian School makes no distinction in its admission policy on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin.

Prospective students need to...

  • Be 6 years of age by April 1 of the year they will start 1st grade if their first language is Japanese; or be 6 years of age by September 1 of the year they will start 1st grade if their first language is English. Children  entering 1st grade whose first language is neither English nor Japanese will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Be proficient in English
  • Submit previous educational records
  • Be successful in a placement interview and/or test
  • Have a positive attitude toward the Christian values and regulations espoused by the school
  • Have at least one parent being able to communicate in English or, if neither parent can communicate in English, they need to be willing to use an interpreter/translator in all communications with the school.

Please follow the application procedure outlined below.

  1. Read the Parent & Student handbook thoroughly.
  2. Submit to the Executive Assitant's office the Application Form with the application/registration fee (¥10,000).
  3. Submit previous school records or a permission slip authorizing KCS to send for student records.
  4. Office personnel will call to arrange a meeting, at which time the principal will interview the parents and student(s) in English. Should diagnostic testing be required, the applicable fee should be paid at the time of testing.
  5. Upon notification of acceptance, the entrance fee is paid.
  6. Both the Enrollment Contract and the Health Evaluation Form by a physician must be submitted before the admission procedure is complete.
