Working at KCS:

50+ years after our founding we remain what we are built to be: a small, no-frills school with a strong Christ-centered focus well-equipped to serve missionary families.

Living in Japan:

Living and working in Japan can be an immensely rewarding experience. Most foreigners with a degree of cultural sensitivity will find the Japanese culture welcoming and endearing.

While Japan embraces many Western influences, it still has an extremely low percentage of Christians (less than 1%). Opportunities for Christian ministry are plentiful but not without challenges. and overcoming language and other cultural barriers can be frustrating at times.

Serving as a Missionary Teacher:

Direct compensation for your work at KCS will provide for much of your livelihood.  Most teachers receive supplemental support through affiliated mission organizations, from churches/friends back home, and some of our teachers following Paul's "tent-making" model.  This helps meet the cost of additional living expenses in Japan, as well as keeping staff connected with the greater body of believers and their home church communities. Teaching assignments are for a minimum of two years, but several staff have been involved with the school for decades.
